About The Quiet Mornings

I've always savored early mornings, even as a young girl.  Back in those days,  my bedroom window had a distant view of the San Francisco Bay. When I woke up early, I would open my window to watch the sunrise-tinted sky change colors, inhale the crisp morning air and take in the stillness of the morning before the rest of the world woke up. I loved gazing at the water and daydreaming about life (some things don’t change – it's a habit I still have today!)

Quiet mornings are sacred to me.  It's the time when I most clearly hear my Soul's voice whispering its guidance to me while I journal, meditate or do oracle card readings. It's also my favorite time to ponder, create and write.

These mornings don't happen every day. But whenever they do, if I follow the guidance and creative sparks that arise in the stillness, my life becomes lovelier because I'm aligned with my true self.

I started this blog to share what's inspiring me and what matters:

-Sharing insights on the life-lessons that I'm learning
-Finding beauty, delight and meaning in the every day
-Expressing my creativity through writing, photography and other projects
-Exploring how to live a more sustainable life

I hope you will find something here to inspire and uplift you on your life's journey ;-)

A Few Things About Me

I'm an accidental New Yorker with a fairy-soul that longs for redwood tree skyscrapers. I moved here intending to stay for one year, but somehow that turned into 20.

I still don't have a driver's license, even though I've had a permit twice in my life. I guess that also makes me a true New Yorker.

I lived in Germany for many years. Also Italy, for a brief moment.

I used to work with my hands to sew, sketch and design clothing for the fashion world. I now use my hands to transmit love through energy work and healing touch.

I love Angels and work with them regularly through meditation and angel card readings.

I've been told by several intuitive readers that I'm an old soul. That might explain why, as a kid, I would gaze out the window while other kids were outside playing, and think about questions like: "I wonder why was I born into this body/this family/this place/this time - and not another one?" (The answers wouldn't come until much later in life.)

I'm an aspiring minimalist - a challenge, since I come from a family of ardent stuff collectors.

One thing I will not minimize from my life is my curious collection of tiny animals, who, one by one have found their way into my home.

I love the ocean, but I'm a terrible swimmer.

I think life is too short to wear serious socks. I always keep a few sillies in my drawer for the grey days.

I believe the secret to eternal youth is this: Don't ever completely grow up. Keep your wide-eyed sense of wonder, playful joy and a belief in magic in your back pocket.

I'm a late bloomer in some ways. At 40-something, I feel like I'm just getting started.

I don't like putting labels on myself, but if I had to, one would probably be "Introvert - INFP".

I love libraries, but am sometimes too impatient to finish reading books.

I like words, but I love beautiful pictures even more.

I silently thank the trees that grow in my local park whenever I walk by, for beautifying our concrete jungle.

Flowers make me extremely happy.

My husband and I are owned by a tuxedo cat named Charlie. He got himself rescued off the streets of downtown New York, so he could make his way to Brooklyn and rule our lives (when he's not sleeping).

I love food. Italian food especially. Tiramisu, definitely. Did you know Tiramisu means "lift me up" in Italian?

I'd rather eat in a homely restaurant with amazing food than a beautifully-designed restaurant with mediocre food any day.

If this list wasn't long enough and you still want to know even more random things about me, you can find that HERE.

Are you a kindred spirit? I'm glad you are here. Thanks for visiting. ♥

  1. I enjoyed reading your 'About Me' page and getting to know you better. I too am happy to call myself a Daydreamer...some of my most productive time is when I daydream.

  3. So many things here ring true for me!!! I'm an oracle card lover (doing Susannah's course now) and have too many decks. I'm a card carrying introvert (INFJ), and if I could, I'd live in a city of trees.... I love them so much. I think my favourite quote of all time is 'Some day you'll be old enough to start reading fairy tales again' by CS Lewis. I love this because I think it speaks to the way too many of us lose our inner child along the way somewhere as we grow up. I'm with you, staying playful is so important. I'm 50, and sometimes I feel like I'm just getting started too!! xox
